Born in Long Island, Alec Baldwin was the eldest of six children, four of whom went on to become actors. As a teenager, Baldwin attended Alfred G. Berner High School in Massapequa, but had not yet been bitten by the acting bug, preferring football. When he went to George Washington University, he majored in political science, planning on becoming a lawyer, but it was there that he discovered his passion for acting. In his junior year, he transferred to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, and later became a member of the Actors Studio. Baldwin received his first role, on a soap opera, in 1980, prompting him to leave school to pursue an acting career. He returned to NYU in 1994 and graduated with a BFA, and has since been awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree by that same institute. Today, he is most famous for playing Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock opposite Tina Fey.
