Alex Rodríguez College:
Alexander Rodriguez was born in Washington Heights, New York as a first-generation Dominican-American. When he was four years old, his family moved to the Dominican Republic and then to Miami, Florida where he attended Christopher Columbus High School. A year later, he transferred to Westminster Christian School to be a star shortstop on the baseball team and a quarterback on the football team. His team won the high school national championship when Rodriguez was a junior, and he was selected the USA Baseball Junior Player of the Year. Initially, the budding baseball star signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Miami, but he decided to sign with the Seattle Mariners instead of getting a college education or playing college baseball. Though his career has included some controversy over his use of steroids, he is still the most highly-paid baseball player in history and has broken records set by Jimmie Foxx and Babe Ruth.
