Amy Adams Education & Background:

Amy Lou Adams, born August 20th, 1974, was born to American parents in Vicenza, Veneto Region, Italy, the fourth of seven children. Her father was a U.S. Serviceman who took the entire family from base to base, before settling in Castle Rock, Colorado when Adams was 8 years old. She was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, although her family left the church after her parents separated in 1985. Adams later said that her religious upbringing “instilled in me a value system I still hold true. The basic “Do Unto Others...” that was what was hammered into me. And love.”Throughout her years at Douglas County High School, she sang in the school choir, and apprenticed at a local dance company; her ambition at this time was to become a ballerina. She excelled at sports, particularly athletic gymnastics, but gave them up to pursue dance: Her parents hoped that she would continue with gymnastics as they would have given her a chance to obtain a college scholarship, but Adams decided not to go to college. She later reflected: “I wasn't one of those people who enjoyed being in school. I regret not getting an education, though.”She eventually decided that she was not gifted enough to turn professional in the ballerina world, and entered musical theater, which she found “much better suited to her personality.”
