Andy Baldwin was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to a former Pennsylvania State Representative (R) and a high school mathematics teacher. He graduated from Manheim Township High School as valedictorian in 1995, and his academic performance in school was even more impressive when noting his simultaneous athletic achievements: Baldwin played basketball, tennis, football, and baseball, and was an All-American swimmer, named ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year the same year he graduated from high school. He went on to excel at Duke University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. There, he was a varsity swimmer and a Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps midshipman. After Duke, Baldwin was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy and received a full scholarship to attend the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He received his M.D. in 2003, and then immediately completed an internship in general surgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. The future Bachelor star became a medical officer for Naval Special Warfare Group Three in Coronado in 2004, and then completed the Navy Undersea Medicine Training Institute and Navy Dive School in 2005. Having completed his education, he was assigned to three years of service as Diving Medical Officer for Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One with the Navy Medical Corps in Pearl Harbor. Today, the extremely accomplished Andy Baldwin is a Board Certified Family Physician and an MPH Graduate Student at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, but his education is not the only notch on his belt: He also won Humanitarian of the Year awards from Competitor Magazine and Triathlete Magazine, not to mention the title of "hottest bachelor" from People.
