Britney Spears College:
Britney Spears grew up in Kentwood, Louisiana and began taking dance classes there at the age of three. Her childhood was filled with performance classes of all kinds, including gymnastics and voice; she made her first stage appearance at the tender age of five, singing "What Child Is This" at her kindergarten graduation. At age 8, she and her mother went to Atlanta so she could audition for The Mickey Mouse Club. She was thought to be too young, but was referred to a talent agent in New York City, where she and her mother shortly moved. In the Big Apple, Spears was enrolled in the Professional Performing Arts School and was soon hired as the understudy for the lead role in a Broadway show. In 1992, she was finally accepted into The Mickey Mouse Club, but the show was cancelled and the disappointed Spears returned to her hometown. There, she attended Parklane Academy in Mississippi and felt dissatisfied with the lull in her performing career. Five years later, she dropped out of high school when she was signed to Jive Records. Since then she has sold over 100 million albums, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
