Daniel Craig, the Welsh-British actor most famous for playing James Bond, grew up near Liverpool. While he attended Holy Trinity Primary School, he acted in school plays from the age of 6 and was taken to the Everyman theatre by his mother for lessons. When Craig failed his Eleven-plus exams, he was sent to Hilbre High School where he played on the rugby team and acted in Romeo and Juliet; he finished his secondary education there at age 16. At this point the young actor moved to London to join the National Young Theatre, making his professional debut in Troilus and Cressida. He performed with the National Young Theatre all throughout Europe, but continued to toil as a waiter to make ends meet. Finally, after several rejections, he was admitted into the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican. He graduated in 1991 and entered the big-screen a year later, but of course his rise to international stardom came fifteen years later through Casino Royale.
