Gwyneth Paltrow was born in Los Angeles to famous actress Blythe Danner and late director Bruce Paltrow. Her parents encouraged her interest in acting from a young age, giving her a stage debut when Paltrow was only five years old. She attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica until moving to New York City to enroll in the elite all-girls Spence School on the Upper East Side. After her high school graduation, the blonde beauty went to the University of California, Santa Barbara to major in art history, but soon found that she preferred to pursue a performance career instead. It wasn't long before Paltrow was cast in her first film, Shout, in 1991, and since then she has attained international fame as an actress. She is best known for her starring roles in The Royal Tenenbaums, Shallow Hal, Proof, and Shakespeare in Love, winning several prestigious awards for the latter.
