Lebron James College:
LeBron James was born (and raised) in Akron, Ohio to his 16-year-old single mother. They struggled throughout James' childhood, leading her to let James move in with the coach who had taught him basketball when the boy was nine years old. He thrived on the courts, playing Amateur Athletic Union basketball for the Shooting Stars, and he and his three friends led the team to national success. The four budding basketball stars famously - some would say notoriously - chose to attend the mostly-white private St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where James sold out the enormous Rhodes Arena to local fans and scouts. Named Ohio's Mr. Basketball, the young athlete graduated high school in 2003 for an immediate spot in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite not having a college education, James has won two NBA championships, two MVP Awards, two Olympic gold medals, and an NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
