Linda Hamilton Education & Background:

Linda Hamilton was born on September 26th, 1956, in Salisbury, Maryland. Her mother was a descendant of the original Pilgrims that came to the Colonies on the Mayflower, and her father was a physician. She was raised in “a very boring, white AngloSaxon” family and “voraciously read books” during her spare time. She went to Wicomico Junior High (later Wicomico Middle School) and Wicomico High School in Salisbury along with her twin sister, Leslie. She spent two years attending Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, where, she states, an acting professor told her that she had no hope of earning a living as an actress. Later, in New York, she attended acting workshops given by Lee Strasberg. She made her television debut in soap opera in 1980, and her theatrical debut two years later, at which point she was listed as one of 12 “Promising New Actors of 1982” in the industry magazine Screen World. She shared a starring role on the made-for-TV movie Country Gold that same year. In 1984, she starred in James Cameron's The Terminator, which was an unexpected box-office smash. She did a number of smaller-profile films for the rest of the decade before returning in 1990 as Sarah Connor in T2: Judgement Day, which broke box office records of the time. That year, she was chosen as one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. In 1994, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which she battled for the next ten years.rn
