Madonna High School:
|Rochester Adams High School, Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA|
|University of Michigan (3 semesters, dropout)|
August 16th, 1958—a day that would forever change the music industry the whole world over. Madonna Louise Ciccone was born into a loving family in Bay City, Michigan. She attended elementary school at Saint Fredrick's and Saint Andrew's. By the time she got to West Middle School, she was already garnering a reputation for her good performance in school, and her rather unconventional behavior. She moved on from there, graduating from Rochester Adam's High School with straight A's and an award for cheerleading, granting her a three month scholarship to the University of Michigan. In 1977 she dropped out of college and moved to New York where she studied under the choreographer Alvin Ailey. There she made many good connections and eventually formed a pop/dance group called “Breakfast Club”. Her demo tape was passed onto Sire records in 1982—the rest, as they say, is history. Madge is well known for the bold way she continuously reinvents her music and her iconic image. She is one of the most successful and powerful woman, in this industry, of all time.
