Matt Damon grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts in a six-family communal house near Ben Affleck, with whom he was close friends. As a child, he attended Cambridge Alternative School and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, where he performed in several school plays. Damon was bullied at school due to his height and recalls feeling very alone as an adolescent. He credits his drama teacher at Rindge and Latin for inspiring him to pursue acting. At Harvard University, Damon studied English for four years while performing in many student productions, but he did not complete his college education. Instead, he decided to move to Los Angeles and star in Geronimo: An American Legend with Gene Hackman. His breakthrough came when he and childhood friend Ben Affleck wrote Good Will Hunting and Damon starred in the blockbuster, earning them both Oscars for Best Original Screenplay. In the present, Damon is a highly successful screenwriter and producer who is one of the top-40 highest-grossing actors of all time, not to mention People's Sexiest Man Alive.
