Eldrick Tont Woods was born on December 30th, 1975. His father bestowed the nickname "Tiger" on him, in honor of a fellow soldier. A golf prodigy, by the time Tiger was eight he was already displaying his talent on shows like "Good Morning America". Tiger might have been born with an innate talent for the sport of golf, but he listened closely to the lessons of his mentor, and father, Earl. In 1994, Tiger completed his education at Western High in Anaheim. From there he went on to further his education at Stanford University. Once finished with his formal education, he was able to focus more fully on his true passion: going pro as a golfer. In 1997, the 21-year-old took the sport by storm, winning the US Masters in Augusta, Georgia. He was the youngest man to accomplish that, and the first African-American to receive that honor. Mr. Woods continually pushes himself towards greatness in the sport, and he is always learning and stretching his abilities. Though he has had many issues to deal with off the green, Tiger Woods has remained professional while on the field and will continue to push the limits of his oldest passion--the sport of golf.
